Pigai Curhat Ministry of Human Rights Never Appreciated Despite Achievements

Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai voiced his frustration, stating that his ministry has never received appreciation despite its achievements. Pigai made these remarks during a working meeting with Commission XIII of the House of Representatives (DPR).

We have achieved achievements but you have never given us appreciation.

His comments were a direct response to criticism from the commission's chairman, Willy Aditya. Aditya had critiqued the Ministry of Human Rights' budget proposal, arguing it focused too much on internal services and lacked clear budget lines for its programs. Aditya emphasized that the commission supports the ministry's initiatives, particularly those benefiting human rights activists.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Human Rights, represented by Vice Minister Mugiyanto, proposed a budget of Rp3.9 trillion for 2027. However, the Ministry of Finance has only provided an indicative ceiling of Rp728 billion. This amount represents a slight increase from the 2026 budget of Rp718 billion, while the ministry's own proposed additional funds for 2026 were Rp551 billion.

The ministry is seeking greater support from the commission to secure the necessary funding for its programs and operations.
