Pingtung showcases local brands at Taiwan Creative Expo ahead of 2027 Design Exhibition

Pingtung County is gearing up to host the 2027 Taiwan Design Exhibition by actively promoting its local creative talent on a national stage.

Eleven Pingtung-based cultural and creative brands are currently participating in the 2026 Taiwan Creative Expo in Taipei. Under the curatorial concept "Pingtung FUN Lab," these brands are showcasing a diverse range of products and design philosophies, from sustainable practices and regional flavors to artisanal craftsmanship and cultural traditions.

The exhibition at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, running from August 6 to 12, aims to highlight the innovative energy and deep cultural roots of southern Taiwan. The Pingtung pavilion draws inspiration from the region's sunshine, using a spectrum-themed design to guide visitors through the local landscape, culture, and lifestyle aesthetics.

Featured brands are exploring various themes. "TAIWAN DYE" transforms betel nut waste into natural dyes, while "Nan Guo Hong Dou" develops lifestyle products from local red beans, weaving stories of land and culture. "Chang An Noodles" emphasizes zero-carbon production using local wheat and traditional sun-drying methods.

Other participants include "Little Hugo Chocolate," which supports local cocoa farmers and offers educational experiences; "Uncle Lemon," known for its preserved lemon products and eco-friendly cup sets; and "Black Eternal," which crafts sustainable home goods from traditional paper mulberry bark. "Yi Xin Handmade Workshop" preserves the craft heritage of Hengchun's ramie fiber, and "Ben Ge Workshop L.I.S" uses handmade leather to convey warmth. "Shi Ri Fu Guang" integrates aesthetic design into everyday items, and "Fu Yu Bao," with nearly 40 years of experience, showcases biotechnology-based cleaning and personal care products.

Additionally, the "Pingtung Wang Chuan Culture Museum" reinterprets traditional "Wang Chuan" rituals through contemporary design, presenting innovative cultural merchandise. The Pingtung County Government stated that these efforts aim to cultivate local brands, expand market opportunities, and build Pingtung's design prowess in anticipation of the 2027 exhibition.
