Pioneering Woman of the Republic, Afet İnan, to be Commemorated in Etimesgut

Etimesgut will host a commemorative program to honor Prof. Dr. Afet İnan, a significant figure in the Turkish Republic's history, on the 41st anniversary of her death. The event, organized by the Association for Research and Examination of Women's Social Life in partnership with the Etimesgut Municipality, is scheduled for June 8 at the Yunus Emre Cultural Center.

Key figures, including Fikriye Tiryaki, General President of the Association for Research and Examination of Women's Social Life, and Erdal Beşikçioğlu, Mayor of Etimesgut, will lead the event. It aims to recognize İnan's crucial role in the establishment of the Republic and her advocacy for women's rights.

The program will feature a "Women in Cartoons from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic" exhibition opening at 7:00 PM. Following this, speakers will take the stage at 7:15 PM. Notable speakers include Canan Güllü, President of the Federation of Turkish Women's Associations; Prof. Dr. Ayten Sezer Arığ, Director of Hacettepe University's Atatürk Principles and History of Revolution Institute; and Dr. Canan Aykent, an artist and İnan's granddaughter. The commemoration will conclude with a screening of the Afet İnan documentary at 8:15 PM.
