Piyush Goyal meets UAE Ambassador Alshaali, appreciates efforts to strengthen India-UAE partnership

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met with the UAE Ambassador to India, Abdulnasser Alshaali, in New Delhi to discuss ways to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. The meeting highlighted the strong and growing relationship between India and the UAE.

According to a social media post from the Minister's office, Goyal acknowledged Ambassador Alshaali's contributions to bolstering bilateral ties and extended his best wishes for the Ambassador's future endeavors. This engagement is part of a broader effort by India's Commerce Ministry to connect with key international partners, aiming to uncover new export opportunities and attract foreign investment.

The meeting took place at a time when trade and investment relations have seen considerable growth, largely attributed to the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which became effective in May 2022. This agreement has been instrumental in increasing two-way trade, improving market access, and encouraging investment across various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, logistics, fintech, and food processing.

Both countries are actively working towards ambitious trade targets, aiming for $100 billion in non-oil trade by 2030. The partnership extends beyond trade to encompass collaboration in crucial areas such as renewable energy, food security, digital payments, and supply chain resilience. Ambassador Alshaali has played a key role in advancing numerous India-UAE initiatives during his tenure, including expanding cooperation in virtual trade corridors, education, skill development, and strengthening people-to-people connections, particularly given the large Indian diaspora in the UAE.
