Plzeň to begin renovating historic Peklo hall with 750 million CZK

The city of Plzeň is preparing to embark on a significant renovation project for the culturally significant Peklo building, with work on its historic main hall scheduled to commence in September. This initial phase is a substantial undertaking, with the city allocating 750 million Czech korunas (approximately $31 million USD) for the repairs.

The Peklo cultural center, a protected historical monument, houses a grand hall that is central to the planned restoration. The first stage of the renovation is expected to take approximately two years to complete. This will lay the groundwork for subsequent phases of the project.

Following the completion of the first stage, the renovation efforts will shift to the central section of the complex. This area includes a more modern extension to the original building. The estimated costs for this second phase are expected to be comparable to those of the initial phase, indicating a significant overall investment in revitalizing the entire facility.
