PM Modi's 'Sapt Dhara' plan aims to accelerate India's development by 2047

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled a comprehensive seven-point reform framework, dubbed 'Sapta Dhara,' aimed at propelling India toward becoming a developed nation by 2047. Addressing the nation from the Red Fort on Independence Day, Modi outlined the plan, drawing a parallel to the ancient 'Sapta Sindhu' or seven rivers, and invoking a new 'Sapta Dhara' of strength for India's development journey.

Today, I would also like to recall that era when the nation knew, understood, and heard of India's prowess in the form of the 'Sapta Sindhu'. Now, to build a Viksit Bharat, we need a new current. Today, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, I invoke the 'Sapta Dhara' of strength before the nation.

Modi emphasized that this framework is designed to achieve in the next five to seven years what could not be accomplished in the preceding five to seven decades. The seven streams of strength include Manufacturing Power, Agriculture and Food Processing, Technology and Innovation, Gati Shakti (infrastructure), Defence Shakti and Aatmanirbhar Defence, Green Economy and Blue Economy, and India's Soft Power.

Under Manufacturing Power, Modi called for India to become a trusted hub in global supply chains, urging the development of the entire value chain domestically and emphasizing global competitiveness in cost, quality, and scale. The Agriculture and Food Processing stream aims to position India as a global food powerhouse, linking sector growth to export ambitions and farmer support, citing government subsidies on urea and DAP.

In the coming 5 to 7 years, what could not be achieved in the last 5 to 7 decades, through the prowess and power of this Sapta Dhara, we will give the nation new heights, new momentum, and the capability to surpass new goals.

Technology and Innovation are designated as key drivers for future growth, with a focus on enhancing India's technological capabilities. The Gati Shakti initiative centers on building world-class, high-speed connectivity and infrastructure. The framework also stresses self-reliance in defense, sustainable economic practices through green and blue economies, and leveraging India's global influence and cultural appeal.
