PM Rahman Mourns Death of Veteran Politician Barrister Sircar

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman of Bangladesh has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the passing of Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, a veteran politician and former acting president. Sircar, who also served as Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and was a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) National Standing Committee, died earlier today.

In a condolence message, Rahman highlighted Sircar's distinguished political career, describing him as a wise, experienced, honest, and dedicated figure. Sircar held numerous significant positions throughout his service to the nation, including Minister of Education, Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and various state minister roles. The Prime Minister emphasized Sircar's contributions to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting parliamentary culture, and advancing people-oriented governance.

Sircar played a crucial role during the 17-year movement against authoritarian rule, demonstrating courage and resolve.
