PNGRFL unites for “Wan Haus” Pawa Meri round

The Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) is set to celebrate the significant contributions of women to the sport with the return of the Pawa Meri Round, scheduled for August 8–9, 2026. This event, dedicated to recognizing "Women in League," will operate under the empowering theme, "Strong Women, Strong Families, Strong Communities."

The Pawa Meri Round embodies the "Wan Haus" (One House) spirit, a concept promoting unity and inclusivity within the rugby community. It will bring together prominent teams and competitions, including the PNG Chiefs, SP PNG Hunters, and the PNG National Rugby League Competitions (PNG NRLC). This collaborative effort underscores a shared commitment to acknowledging and uplifting the role of women in rugby.

Beyond celebrating achievements, the round aims to highlight and address key issues that affect women both within the sport and in broader society. The PNGRFL's initiative seeks to foster a supportive environment where women's voices are heard and their challenges are acknowledged, contributing to stronger families and communities across Papua New Guinea.
