Pod of over 10 dolphins appears near Ly Son Island

A remarkable natural spectacle unfolded off the coast of Vietnam's Ly Son Island when a pod of more than 10 dolphins was sighted swimming in the waters near the island. The unusual gathering of marine mammals delighted passengers aboard the An Vinh Express 01 ferry.

Phan Hậu, a 41-year-old resident of Ly Son, shared his excitement about the sighting. He observed the dolphins around 8:30 AM on August 17th as the ferry traveled from Ben Dinh port towards Sa Ky port. Hậu noted that while smaller groups of dolphins are occasionally seen, a pod of this size is exceptionally rare for the area.

Before this, only about 4 to 5 dolphins swimming together appeared in Ly Son at one time, but now there is a pod of more than 10, which is very rare.

Capturing the moment on his phone, Hậu shared the images with friends and family, expressing his joy. "Dolphins symbolize good luck, so when I saw them, I was very happy and immediately took out my phone to capture this moment," he said. The appearance of the large dolphin pod near Ly Son has been described as a special sight for those who frequently travel the Ly Son-Sa Ky sea route.

Ly Son Island, located about 15 nautical miles off the mainland, is known for its natural beauty and is home to approximately 24,000 people across its two main islands, Dao Lon and Dao Be. The unexpected appearance of the dolphins added a memorable touch to the daily ferry service.
