Police Appoint New Spokesperson, CSP Edem Iniedu

The Nigeria Police Force has a new spokesperson, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, following an approval by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu. The appointment was announced by the outgoing spokesperson, DCP Anthony Placid, who highlighted Iniedu's extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, and administration.

Iniedu, a native of Etinan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. His professional development includes courses in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis. His prior roles include serving as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he focused on public complaint management and enhancing transparency and accountability.

CSP Iniedu is an experienced and accomplished police officer with a strong background in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability and administration.

Before his current appointment, CSP Iniedu also served as Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology in Ogun State. His career has seen him in various operational and administrative capacities nationwide, including Operations Officer in Yobe State Command, Area Crime Officer in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, and Second-in-Command of a Police Mobile Force Squadron. He also managed the Force Headquarters Situation Room, overseeing crime and security information dissemination.

The Inspector-General of Police conveyed his confidence in CSP Iniedu's leadership of the Force Public Relations Department. He emphasized that Iniedu's extensive experience and expertise will significantly bolster the Nigeria Police Force's strategic communication initiatives.
