Police arraign three suspects over murder of ex-OGTV broadcaster, guard

Three suspects were arraigned in Abeokuta on Monday in connection with the alleged murder of former Ogun State Television broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo. The arraignment follows the suspects' arrest less than two weeks prior, after residents reported suspicious activities at Oyesiku's residence.

The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform members of the media that the three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Madam Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard will be arraigned today, Monday, July 6, 2026, at Magistrate Court 3, Isabo, Abeokuta, by 11:30 am

According to Ogun State Police Command spokesperson Babaseyi Oluseyi, the arraignment took place at Magistrate Court 3, Isabo. The investigation gained traction after a note found in the victim's stolen Lexus RX330 vehicle was subjected to forensic analysis, leading to the arrest of the prime suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip. Philip was apprehended on June 24 at a construction site in Abeokuta where he worked as a labourer.

Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni stated that Philip allegedly confessed to coordinating the attack. He claimed to have grievances with Oyesiku from his time as her security guard and intended to "teach her a lesson." The police further allege that the suspects overpowered Adetayo before gaining access to Oyesiku's residence, where both victims were killed. The stolen vehicle was later recovered in the Onikolobo area of Ogun State.

The prime suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.

Two other suspects, identified as 27-year-old security guard Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola and 36-year-old bricklayer Sobu Obafunsho, were also arrested. Investigators recovered exhibits including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, and a black pen. The police assured that while the suspects had made statements and evidence was recovered, they were entitled to due process, and investigations would continue.
