Police arrest film director in Konawe for alleged child molestation

Authorities in Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi, have arrested a local film director, identified by the initials AEA, on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl. The 28-year-old suspect was apprehended following a report filed by the victim's family.

This disclosure is the result of rapid work by Satreskrim personnel in following up on community reports and collecting the necessary evidence and information.

According to AKP Laode Muhammad Jefri Hamzah, Head of the Konawe Police Criminal Investigation Unit, the arrest was the result of swift action by police personnel who followed up on the community report and gathered necessary evidence. The suspect was taken into custody on Monday, July 13, 2026.

During initial questioning, AEA reportedly confessed to committing the assaults on two separate occasions: June 14 and June 28, 2026. The incidents allegedly took place at a production house where the victim was sleeping. Investigators believe the suspect used persuasion and force against the victim.

Based on the initial examination, the suspect admitted to committing the act against the victim on two occasions, namely on June 14 and June 28, 2026.

AEA is currently being held at the Konawe Police Station as the investigation proceeds in accordance with applicable laws. The case has drawn attention in the region, highlighting concerns about the safety of minors.
