Police arrest five suspected kidnappers, rescue victims in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has reported a significant success in its anti-kidnapping efforts, rescuing two abducted individuals and apprehending five suspects. The operation took place in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.

The victims, identified as a 40-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son, were reportedly kidnapped from their home in Kwarin Gadali Hamlet, Pali District, on June 2, 2026. Following the incident, the police swiftly launched an intelligence-led operation to track the perpetrators and secure the victims' release.

Upon receipt of the report, operatives from Pali Outstation immediately visited the scene of the crime and commenced intelligence-led operations to track the perpetrators and secure the release of the victims.

A joint security team, comprising police personnel, soldiers, and local vigilantes, acted on credible intelligence. They arrested three suspects, identified as Mainasara Umaru, 23; Buba Umaru, 20; and Muhammadu Usman, 19, in Kuka Village, Duguri District, on the same day they were abducted. The arrests were made after the operatives followed trails leading to the suspects' residence.

Further investigation, prompted by a confession from one of the initial suspects, led to the apprehension of two additional individuals, including Ahmadu Umaru, in Dalgade. The police spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, confirmed that the kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt on June 3, 2026. They have been taken to the General Hospital in Alkaleri for medical examination. All five suspects are in custody, and the case has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend any fleeing accomplices and recover the weapons allegedly used in the operation.
