Police arrest four over plot to assassinate businessman for land

Police in Nigeria's Anambra State have arrested four men accused of plotting to kill a businessman and unlawfully seize his land in Ukwulu. The suspects, identified as Obiora Nwankwo, Chiadikobi Okoye, Emmanuel Mboko, and Ifeanyi Obi, were apprehended at different locations following a tip-off.

The Anambra State Police Command has uncovered an alleged plot to murder a businessman and unlawfully take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, following the strategic intelligence emplacement of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama.

According to a statement from the state police command's spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrests were the result of "strategic intelligence emplacement" by the Commissioner of Police. Operatives from the Rapid Response Squad and local security personnel disrupted the alleged criminal plot on Wednesday evening.

During the operation, authorities recovered two firearms and live ammunition from the suspects. Preliminary investigations suggest the men were linked to a conspiracy to murder an unnamed citizen and take over his property.
