Police arrest four suspects, kill two in abduction rescue operation

Oyo State Police have confirmed the arrest of four suspects and the killing of two others during a rescue operation that freed the sister and twin children of Bayo Adelabu, a 2027 governorship aspirant for the All Progressives Congress in the state. The operation took place Saturday night in Ibadan.

The abductees, Busola Adegoke John-Paul, Adelabu's younger sister, and her 12-year-old twin sons, were held in a three-bedroom bungalow in the Ayegun area of Oluyole Local Government. The rescue operation, which lasted several hours, resulted in a shootout where two suspects were killed. Firearms, including a pump-action gun, were recovered from the scene.

According to police reports, the victims were "smoked out" of the hideout. Commissioner of Police Oluwagbemiga Abimbola stated that the police acted on a tip-off that led to the successful rescue. While four suspects were apprehended, others are reported to have escaped with bullet wounds.

The abduction occurred early Wednesday morning when armed attackers trailed the victims' vehicle from their home. They were stopped around 7:30 a.m. at Elewura-Challenge in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. The victims were kidnapped as they were being transported from their home.
