Police arrest housewife for slitting husband’s throat in Katsina

Katsina State Police have arrested a 23-year-old housewife, Sadiya Lawal, in connection with an attempted murder in the state capital. Lawal is accused of attacking her sleeping husband, Jamilu Ibrahim, with a knife, inflicting a deep cut to his neck.

Ibrahim reported the incident to the Central Market Police Division on Monday morning. He was immediately taken to a hospital and is reportedly responding to treatment. Police visited the scene, recovered the alleged weapon, and have taken the suspect into custody. She will face charges after the investigation concludes.

Today, June 29, 2026, at about 9:00 AM, one Jamilu Ibrahim, m, reported at the Central Market Division, Katsina, that on the same date at about 5:30 am, while he was asleep, his wife, one Sadiya Lawal, f, age 23, attacked him with a knife in an attempt to slit his throat. The victim sustained a deep cut injury to the neck.

In a separate incident, police in Katsina State operatives foiled a bandit attack in the Dandume Local Government Area. During a gun battle, fleeing suspects abandoned two motorcycles and a machete, which were recovered by the police. Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects involved in the attack, which occurred on the Kadisau-Sheme Road after a distress call alerted the local police division.
