Police arrest nine people blocking streets during unlawful protests in Tel Aviv

Nine protesters were arrested by police in Tel Aviv on Saturday night for disrupting public order and blocking traffic during an unauthorized demonstration. Police stated the protest on Kaplan Street was unlawful because it lacked coordination with security forces, leading to its evacuation shortly after.

The arrests occurred as several protest groups had announced a mass demonstration in Habima Square. These groups are calling for the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 massacre and are demanding equal burden-sharing for the ongoing war.

The demonstration comes just days before the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear petitions challenging the law that freezes arrests for draft evaders. The hearing, set for Tuesday, will involve an expanded panel of nine justices.

Protest organizers criticized the government, stating, "The Knesset may have dissolved, but the government has not stopped trying to evade responsibility and place a heavier burden on the serving public."
