Police Arrest Seven Suspected Bandits in Kebbi Over FRSC Killings

The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the arrest of seven suspected bandits in connection with ongoing criminal activities in the Bagudo Local Government Area, including the recent killing of three Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly on a mission to procure food supplies for criminal elements operating within forest hideouts.

The arrests were the result of intelligence-led operations conducted on June 5, targeting criminal networks operating in the Soda Forest area and surrounding border communities. These operations are part of intensified efforts to dismantle banditry networks and disrupt their supply chains.

During patrols along the Illo–Lolo Road, Mobile Police operatives intercepted three suspects traveling from the Soda Forest. Preliminary investigations suggest these individuals were on a mission to procure food supplies for bandits hiding in forest hideouts. The suspects have been identified as Muhammadu Bande, Aliyu Abubakar, and Muhammadu Aliyu, and the motorcycle they were using was recovered.

The suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue to unravel the full scope of their activities and establish their possible involvement in recent security breaches within the area, particularly the attack that resulted in the killing of three Federal Road Safety Corps personnel.

In a separate operation near the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje axis, four additional suspects were apprehended: Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Anme Shehu, and Yahaya Shehu. All seven suspects are currently in police custody.

The arrests represent a major operational success in our ongoing efforts to combat banditry and other violent crimes across Kebbi State.

Police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman stated that investigations are continuing to ascertain the full scope of their activities and their potential involvement in recent security breaches, specifically the attack that led to the deaths of the three FRSC personnel. The suspects will face charges in court upon the conclusion of the investigations. The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, described the arrests as a significant breakthrough in the command's campaign against banditry and violent crime.
