Police arrest suspected armed robber, recover gun, ammunition

Police in Anambra State have arrested a 49-year-old man identified as Chima Ogumba, who is suspected of armed robbery. The arrest occurred on Monday morning following a raid on his residence by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu.

The operatives, upon storming the identified area, conducted a search on the suspect that led to the recovery of one pump-action gun and 50 live cartridges.

The operation took place at Nkpor Road in the Idemili North Local Government Area. During the search of the suspect's premises, police recovered a pump-action gun and 50 live cartridges. According to the police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his possession of the firearm and ammunition.
