Police arrest suspected armed robber with human body part, firearms in Lagos

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old man, Samson Onilewaji, on suspicion of armed robbery and possession of a human body part. The arrest occurred during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway when operatives intercepted a commercial shuttle bus.

During a search of the vehicle and its occupants, police recovered a suspected human right hand, two locally made pistols, ammunition, two axes, a POS terminal, and five ATM cards. The suspect reportedly confessed to recently robbing three individuals of their belongings, including the recovered electronic devices and cards.

Authorities are now working to identify the victims whose belongings were stolen and to determine the origin and intended use of the suspected human hand. The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command's commitment to combating crime and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide information to aid public safety. The suspect will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
