Police arrest three over tricycle theft, drug possession in A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reported significant operational successes, apprehending suspects involved in tricycle theft and drug possession. In one operation, two individuals were arrested in connection with the theft of a tricycle valued at approximately N1 million.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes in its ongoing fight against crime and criminality across the state, resulting in the arrest of suspects involved in the theft and unlawful possession of a stolen tricycle, as well as the recovery of dangerous exhibits during a strategic raid operation.

According to a statement by the command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the tricycle theft suspects, Dominic Edet and Asuquo Etim, were apprehended following intelligence-led operations in the Itu Local Government Area. The stolen tricycle was reportedly taken from a residence where it was parked. Edet was arrested with the vehicle, and subsequent investigations led to Etim, who allegedly purchased the tricycle for N1.8 million from an individual who is currently at large.

In a separate incident, police conducted a raid on identified black spots within the state, leading to the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect, Idorenyin Akpan. During the search of Akpan, officers recovered one wrap of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as 'Ice,' a toy revolver pistol, a hammer, a plier, and a small clay pot containing what appeared to be illicit substances.

Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the command immediately commenced intelligence-driven investigations and deployed surveillance teams to strategic tricycle parks and loading points within and outside the area.

The command stated these arrests are part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime and criminality across Akwa Ibom State. The operations involved strategic raids and surveillance, demonstrating the police's commitment to maintaining law and order.

In a separate operation carried out in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police to intensify stop-and-search operations and raids across identified black spots, operatives of the Command conducted a coordinated raid at Ikot Ekwere Ubium Village.
