Police arrest two in alleged bullying and electrocution of 6-year-old in Jakarta

Central Jakarta police have arrested two individuals in connection with the alleged bullying and electrocution of a 6-year-old boy. The incident, which occurred at Taman Kramat Pulo in Senen, left the child, identified as MWP, in a coma after he was allegedly held against an electrified pole.

According to Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police, one suspect is 17 years old and has been detained. The second suspect, who is a minor, has been returned to their parents but will still face legal proceedings. The victim's grandmother, Linda Reselin, stated that her grandson was hospitalized at RSCM after the incident on Sunday, June 7.

CCTV footage from the park reportedly shows two teenagers dragging the child towards an electrical pole. The pole, which was leaking electricity, caused the victim to be electrocuted, leading to seizures and unconsciousness. The suspects have been identified by initials LNG and RVN. The incident has sparked outrage and concern over child safety and bullying in public spaces.
