Police arrest two kidnappers in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two men allegedly involved in a kidnapping at Molege community in Owo Local Government Area of the state. The suspects are believed to be members of a kidnapping syndicate that has been terrorizing communities in the area.

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate in connection with the kidnap of one Abubakar Abdullahim, male, at Molege, via Owo, Ondo State, on 1st of August, 2026.

The arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated operations by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives apprehended one Adamu Rabiu in Ibadan, Oyo State, in collaboration with the Oyo State Police Command. The second suspect, Haruna Likita, was arrested near Ipele, Ondo State, in connection with the same kidnapping incident.

During interrogation, both suspects made statements admitting their alleged involvement in the crime. Their statements, alongside other emerging intelligence, are being further investigated to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify other persons who may be connected to the crime.

Preliminary investigations have established links between the two suspects and the kidnapping of Abubakar Abdullahim on August 1, 2026. Both suspects have reportedly admitted their involvement during interrogation. The police are continuing their investigation to establish the full circumstances and identify other potential accomplices. Efforts are underway to uncover the syndicate's wider network and operational structure.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Mr. Felix Ohagwu, urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to the police and other security agencies. The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
