Police arrest two robbery suspects in Adamawa, recovers vehicle

The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully apprehended two individuals, Mustapha Suleiman and Rabiu Garba, in connection with a criminal conspiracy and the possession of stolen property. The operation also led to the recovery of a Toyota Hilux vehicle that had been reported stolen.

According to SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police spokesperson, the arrest followed a report by Aliyu Usman, who purchased the Toyota Hilux for ₦7.5 million. Usman discovered that the vehicle he bought had been reported stolen. Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle was stolen from Rivers State in June 2026 and subsequently transported to Adamawa State by a suspect identified as Mati, who is currently at large. Mati allegedly conspired with the two arrested suspects to sell the vehicle to Usman.

The two were arrested following a report by Aliyu Usman. The complainant discovered that the Toyota Hilux he purchased for ₦7.5 million had been reported stolen.

Upon realizing the vehicle was stolen, Usman promptly reported the matter to the police. Operatives acted swiftly on his report, leading to the arrest of the two suspects and the recovery of the Toyota Hilux. The police have also traced the vehicle to its actual owner. The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, commended Usman for his honesty and advised the public to always verify vehicle ownership and documentation before making purchases. He has directed officers to intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect and ensure all involved parties are brought to justice.
