Police arrest two suspected armed robbers in Delta, recover illicit drugs

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command, working with local vigilantes, have apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in armed robberies within Ughelli and surrounding areas. The arrests followed credible intelligence, leading to the capture of Moses Francis, 29, and Cosmos Erueseke, 26, on June 14, 2026.

Francis reportedly confessed to participating in multiple robbery incidents, including one on Aro Street in April 2026. He then led police to a hideout where Erueseke was arrested. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the suspects are in custody and stated that efforts are underway to apprehend other syndicate members and recover their firearms.

In a separate incident on the same day, police intercepted a Toyota Sienna on the Ozoro/Oleh Expressway. The driver fled into a nearby bush upon interception, evading pursuit. A search of the abandoned vehicle yielded a significant quantity of substances suspected to be illicit drugs, including Codeine, Tramadol, Swinol, Man G, and Vega. Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the fleeing driver.
