Police arrest woman for stabbing husband to death in Abia

Abia State Police Command has arrested a woman, identified as Mrs Sara Innocent, for allegedly stabbing her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death during a domestic dispute. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday night in Umuokereke Ngwa, within the Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.

We received a report at the Ohuru Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters on 09/08/2026 that, on 08/08/2026, Mrs Sara Innocent of Ohuru Isimiri Village allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife during a misunderstanding.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, the command received a report of the incident at the Ohuru Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters. Mrs Innocent allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab her husband in the chest during a misunderstanding.

The victim was promptly rushed to a hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death. The scene of the crime has been visited by authorities, the body has been deposited at the morgue for an autopsy, and the suspect is currently in police custody. A discreet investigation into the matter is underway at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
