Police, Border Guard complete public safety preparations ahead of Tisha B’Av

Jerusalem is bracing for the observance of Tisha B'Av with a significant security deployment aimed at maintaining public safety and order. Hundreds of police officers, Border Guard soldiers, and volunteers will be stationed throughout the city, with a particular focus on the Old City, the Western Wall, and other holy sites.

Law enforcement will utilize both visible and covert units, alongside special teams, to ensure a swift response to any potential incidents. Security preparations are designed to manage the large crowds expected for the holiday's prayers and events.

Public access and traffic flow will be managed through road closures. The Women for Israel’s Future march on Wednesday evening will lead to temporary closures on Gershon Agron Street, King Solomon Street, Paratroopers Road, Sultan Suleiman Street, Jericho Road, Ophel Road, and Ma’ale Hashalom Street. Further closures are scheduled for Thursday morning to facilitate morning prayers, and again in the afternoon and evening as the fast concludes.

Israel Police urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement, exercise patience, and refrain from any disorderly or violent conduct during the Tisha B'Av events.
