Police chief prosecutes officer who testified against VIP's daughter

A shocking turn of events has emerged in Croatia, where a police chief has allegedly filed a criminal complaint against a young female officer who testified in court about an assault. The incident in question occurred in August 2024 when the officer was allegedly attacked by Anna Dujić while securing a fire site.

The officer claims that her superiors, including Joško Periša, the head of the Šibenik traffic police, discouraged her from reporting Dujić, citing the family's powerful connections. Anna Dujić's father, Nediljko Dujić, is a former head of Hrvatske šume (Croatian Forests) and is described as being close to the ruling party.

Despite these alleged pressures, the officer's testimony at the Karlovac Municipal Court detailed the events of that day. Her account was part of an earlier criminal complaint that was initially dismissed by the Šibenik State Attorney's Office, where Anna Dujić's sister reportedly works. However, after the case was transferred to another prosecutor's office, the report became part of the indictment against Dujić.

The Police Officers' Union has strongly condemned the actions, calling the chief's complaint against the testifying officer a "disgusting" abuse of power. The union has demanded the resignation of Nikola Milina, the Director General of Police, arguing that this case demonstrates a failure within the Ministry of the Interior (MUP) to protect its officers, especially when they confront influential individuals.
