Police fire warning shot in Sidi Qasim to stop knife-wielding man

A police officer in Sidi Qasim, Morocco, was compelled to discharge his service weapon as a warning to apprehend a 34-year-old man who was reportedly intoxicated and brandishing a knife. The individual, known to police and with a prior criminal record, had allegedly attacked another person with the knife before a police patrol intervened.

According to initial reports, the suspect resisted arrest and exhibited violent behavior towards the officers. In response, the lead police officer fired a single shot into the air to neutralize the threat and ensure public safety. The intervention successfully subdued and detained the suspect.

Authorities confirmed the suspect was in an advanced state of intoxication. The knife used in the assault was confiscated at the scene. The suspect has been placed under judicial investigation, overseen by the public prosecutor's office, to determine the full circumstances and criminal acts attributed to him.
