Police help elderly man find car forgotten after attending brother's funeral

A 72-year-old man in Taiwan experienced distress after being unable to recall his car's parking location following a somber visit to a funeral home in Zhongli District. The man, identified by the surname Chen, was attending the funeral of his brother and was overcome with grief, which led him to forget where he had parked his vehicle.

While searching the surrounding streets in a visibly anxious state, Chen was approached by officers from the Zhongli Precinct. Police officers Hu Guang-yu, Zhong Ya-lin, and Xu Jian-feng, who were on patrol, noticed the elderly man's confusion and proactively offered help.

After calming the man and bringing him to the police station for a brief rest, the officers used the information provided by Chen, including his license plate number, to review nearby surveillance footage. Their diligent search led them to discover that Chen's car had been driven into a parking lot in the vicinity.

Officers then accompanied Chen to the parking lot, where his car was found. Relieved to have his vehicle back, Chen expressed his gratitude to the police for their warm assistance, attributing his forgetfulness to his age. Zhongli Police Chief Lin Ding-tai advised the public to utilize features like phone photos or GPS to remember parking locations, especially in unfamiliar areas, and assured that police are always ready to help.
