Police Hunt Woman After Waitress Found Murdered in Bukoto Room

Kampala police are investigating the death of Jovia Namuwulya, a 22-year-old waitress found murdered in her room in Bukoto. The incident is believed to have occurred between midnight and 6 am on August 20, 2026. Namuwulya had been renting the room for seven months.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, Namuwulya's relatives became concerned when she did not respond to their calls. The caretaker of the building, along with Namuwulya's sister, gained access to her locked room and discovered her lying in a pool of blood. The discovery was made after they noticed blood stains through the window.

On 20 August 2026, the caretaker of the houses received a telephone call from relatives of the deceased inquiring about Jovia, as she was reportedly not responding to their calls. The cartaker together with the deceased's sister, proceeded to the room where Jovia was staying. Upon arrival, they found the room locked. On looking through the window, they observed blood stains inside the room. They subsequently accessed the room and found Jovia lying in a pool of blood, deceased.

Suspicion has fallen on Namuwulya's roommate, Rose Turindamukama, who began staying with her three months prior. Turindamukama was not present when the body was found and is now being sought by police. Authorities believe she may have information crucial to understanding the motive behind the killing and her whereabouts are being actively pursued. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Her friend, Turindamukama Rose, was nowhere to be found and is currently being sought in connection with the incident.
