Police Inquiry Ordered After CCTV Footage Shows Officers' Alleged Involvement in Karachi Scuffle

Authorities in Karachi have launched an investigation following the emergence of CCTV footage allegedly showing police officers involved in a dispute between residents. The incident occurred in Defence Housing Authority's (DHA) Phase 6, and the video has raised serious questions about the conduct of law enforcement.

The footage captures a heated altercation between two women, with one seen wielding a dumbbell. Disturbingly, individuals appearing to be in police uniforms are visible in the video, seemingly restraining the woman who is being assaulted. The situation escalates with arguments, shouting, and eventually, the destruction of a CCTV camera.

The South deputy inspector general (DIG) confirmed that an investigation has been ordered into the matter. This inquiry aims to determine the extent of police involvement and ascertain whether the officers acted inappropriately or exceeded their authority during the scuffle. The incident highlights concerns regarding police conduct and accountability within the city.
