Police inspector dies after weekly fitness exercise in Sokoto

Inspector Adamu Isah collapsed shortly after taking part in the Sokoto State Police Command’s weekly walkathon and later died in hospital.

Isah, who served in the Department of Operations, had returned to the command headquarters from Wednesday’s exercise when he suddenly collapsed. Police Public Relations Officer Ahmad Rufa’i said the officer was taken for medical attention, but doctors later confirmed his death.

Sokoto State Commissioner of Police Hayatu Shaffa described the death as a painful loss and offered condolences to Isah’s family, colleagues and friends. “The Sokoto State Police Command is deeply saddened by the sudden and painful loss of our colleague, Inspector Adamu Isah. He was a dedicated and gallant officer who served his fatherland with unwavering commitment and professionalism,” Shaffa said.

The commissioner said Isah was actively involved in sports and belonged to the command’s volleyball team. He was also a boxer. “His energy, discipline, and team spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him,” Shaffa said.

Shaffa added that Isah had contributed significantly to the command’s operations and said the police would support his family. He urged personnel to remain steadfast and take solace in the officer’s years of service while praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
