Police investigate after child dies in Staffordshire woodland

Police have launched an investigation after a child died in woodland near Strawberry Lane in Cheslyn Hay, Staffordshire.

Emergency services were called at about 08:45 BST on Saturday following reports that a child was in cardiac arrest. An air ambulance attended, but paramedics pronounced the child dead a short time later.

Staffordshire Police said the death was being treated as unexplained. The force has not confirmed the child’s age or released other details. Roads in the area remained closed throughout the day, and officers were expected to stay at the scene into the evening.
