Police Investigate Sexual Violence Allegations Against Taufik Hidayat

West Java Police are investigating allegations of sexual violence in the case of YTR (29), who claims to have been severely assaulted and confined by suspect Taufik Hidayat. Police spokesperson Kombes Hendra Rochmawan stated that investigators have not yet concluded whether sexual violence occurred, as statements from the victim and witnesses require further verification and synchronization. "That is what we are exploring. We are investigating, because some of the very minimal statements from the victim and witnesses have not yet been consistent," Rochmawan said in Bandung on Thursday. He added that the victim's ongoing recovery process has prevented investigators from obtaining complete information about the entire ordeal. To expedite the case, the West Java Regional Police have established a joint task force involving various directorates, including General Criminal Investigation, Women and Child Protection, Cyber, and Special Criminal Investigation. "The leading sector is indeed the Directorate of Women and Child Protection, but we have formed a task force to uncover this case and involve all work units," he stated. Beyond the alleged sexual violence, investigators are also examining other aspects, including potential locations where the victim was held, the suspect's motives, and the function of evidence found at the scene. Rochmawan emphasized the police's commitment to thoroughness, stating, "We are still investigating and there is much that we need to synchronize regarding the results of the investigation and inquiry."
