Police investigate stabbing of 15-year-old in Melbourne's south-east

A 15-year-old student is in serious condition after being stabbed in Melbourne's southeast on Monday afternoon. Victoria Police confirmed the incident occurred following an altercation involving a group of teenagers in Cranbourne North.

Paramedics treated the boy for serious upper body injuries at the scene before transporting him to a hospital. The incident took place outside Alkira Secondary College, the injured student's school, and after school hours, according to the Department of Education.

The department stated that the college is providing wellbeing support to those affected by the incident. Reports indicate the alleged offender is not a student at Alkira Secondary College. The group of teenagers reportedly fled the scene on foot.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the stabbing, or who possesses dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact Crime Stoppers. The investigation is ongoing.
