Police kill two suspected kidnappers, recover arms in Anambra

Police in Anambra State have eliminated two suspected kidnappers following a fierce gun battle along Ezeowelle Road in the Idemili Local Government Area. The Anambra State Police Command reported that operatives from the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu engaged the suspects after spotting them on the road.

The Anambra State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its ongoing intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes across the State.

The confrontation escalated into a prolonged gun duel when the suspects opened fire on the approaching police team. During the exchange, two of the individuals sustained fatal gunshot wounds, while their accomplices managed to escape with injuries.

Authorities recovered a significant cache of weapons from the scene, including an AK-47 rifle with four live rounds, a pump-action gun, and five live cartridges. The police command, under the leadership of CP Nnanna Oji Ama, reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal networks through intelligence-led operations.

During the ensuing encounter, two of the suspects sustained fatal gunshot injuries, while other members of the gang fled the scene with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

The command has initiated further investigations and is actively pursuing the suspects who fled. Additional developments are expected to be communicated as the investigation progresses.
