Police Question Firdaus Oiwobo Over Report Against Former UGM Student Council Head Tiyo

South Tangerang Police have questioned lawyer Firdaus Oiwobo concerning his report against Tiyo Ardianto, the former head of the Student Executive Council (BEM) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Head of Public Relations for South Tangerang Police, Ipda Yudhi Susanto, confirmed that Firdaus had provided his statement as the complainant last Friday and that the investigation is ongoing.

"Clarification was requested last Friday. He has clarified and attended, but further investigation or additional information may be needed," Yudhi told reporters on Friday (26/6). He added that investigators from the South Tangerang Police Criminal Investigation Unit are still examining the report filed by Firdaus. "It's still under investigation; the examination has been done, but it will continue. So, the complainant is still being examined."

Previously, Firdaus Oiwobo filed a report against Tiyo Ardianto at the South Tangerang Metro Police on Monday (15/6). In a video posted on his Instagram account, Firdaus stated he reported Tiyo for alleged violations of Articles 263, 433, and 434 of the Criminal Code. Firdaus claimed Tiyo insulted the head of state, President Prabowo Subianto, and also insulted Gibran Rakabuming Raka, while defaming SPPG and MBG, and inciting against their programs.

Firdaus emphasized that while criticism is acceptable, it should not escalate to personal insults. "Criticism is fine, but don't insult. Don't attack President Prabowo personally. Don't insult Gibran. If you insult, I'll deal with you," he stated. Tiyo, however, responded satirically to the report and police complaint regarding alleged insults against President Prabowo Subianto. He commented, "I personally view this momentum as a great opportunity for those who want to show their loyalty to President Prabowo, and I think it's being utilized well by those reporting me."

Tiyo expressed confidence, stating, "So, I hope the President gives the best appreciation to those who are showing their loyalty." He also indicated he is not intimidated by the report and complaint, noting that many parties have offered legal assistance as a show of solidarity from civil society defending democratic rights. Tiyo confirmed he has not yet received a summons for examination from the police regarding the complaint and report, and he stated he would cooperate if summoned.
