Police recover ₦59.2m stolen solar inverters in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has successfully recovered 160 solar inverters, estimated to be worth ₦59.2 million, and apprehended four individuals in connection with separate theft and armed robbery incidents. These breakthroughs were achieved within a 48-hour period through intelligence-led operations conducted by the Sharada Police Division and the Special Intervention Squad.

In one operation, detectives from the Sharada Police Division acted on credible intelligence regarding a 43-year-old suspect, Abdullahi Isah, who was allegedly advertising solar inverters at suspiciously low prices. A subsequent search led to the recovery of 160 units of 6.5KW/48V solar inverters from an uncompleted building in Kano. The police are appealing to the public for information from anyone who may own or have lost solar inverters of a similar description for identification and potential recovery. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the recovered items and identify any other individuals involved.

The recovered items are reasonably suspected to have been stolen. We are calling on members of the public who own or may have lost solar inverters of similar description to report to the Sharada Police Division for identification and possible recovery.

In a separate incident, the police arrested three suspects for the theft of six fuel dispensing machines, valued at approximately ₦10.2 million, from Jajire Filling Station in Aku Village. The suspects, identified as Bishir Abubakar, Shamsu Abdullahi, and Alhaji Shamsu Lawan, allegedly confessed to purchasing the stolen machines from another individual for ₦5.2 million. Efforts are underway to apprehend a fleeing suspect and recover the stolen fuel dispensing machines. The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved, highlighting the command's commitment to crime reduction through intelligence-driven policing.
