Police rescue abducted victim, arrest seven in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has announced a significant success in its fight against rampant kidnapping, rescuing a victim and apprehending seven suspects involved in an attack on a Chisco Transport bus. This operation, which occurred along the Ayere-Kabba Road, highlights the persistent security challenges plaguing major highways in Kogi State, a critical transit route connecting Nigeria's north and south.

Preliminary investigations reveal that a Toyota Hiace bus belonging to Chisco Transport Company, with registration number KJA 405 YJ, en route from Lagos to Abuja, was attacked by armed hoodlums.

The police spokesperson, ASP Saliu Afusat, detailed the incident, explaining how armed hoodlums targeted the bus en route from Lagos to Abuja. While one victim was successfully rescued and the vehicle recovered, the command stressed that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of other abducted passengers. This ongoing operation involves a coordinated response from the Police, Military, and other sister security agencies, demonstrating a unified approach to tackling the menace.

Following a prompt and coordinated response by security operatives, one victim, Adoun Julius (M), 56 years, was successfully rescued, while the vehicle was recovered and taken to the Police station for further necessary action.
