Police Rescue Abducted Woman, Arrest Four Suspects in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has successfully rescued a 26-year-old woman, Ogechi John, who was abducted in Owo, and has apprehended four individuals in connection with the crime. The victim was reportedly taken by suspected kidnappers on Monday as she was at Gozako Filling Station along the Emure-Akure Expressway.

Upon receipt of the distress report, the Command immediately activated a coordinated response alongside Amotekun, local hunters and vigilantes.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the suspects arrived in an unregistered vehicle and forcibly took the woman. The incident prompted an immediate and coordinated response from the police, who collaborated with personnel from the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and vigilante groups. This joint effort aimed to track down the perpetrators and secure the victim's safe release.

Security operatives swiftly secured strategic entry and exit points in Owo and surrounding communities. They also conducted searches in nearby forests and along suspected escape routes. The operation led to the discovery of the suspects' abandoned getaway vehicle, a Toyota Camry, in a bush at the Ojana area of Owo. Acting on intelligence gathered, police operatives arrested four suspects found with a woman's motorcycle believed to be linked to the abduction.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Friday Shola, 27; Friday Monday, 21; Osho Joseph, 24; and Lawal Mariam. Preliminary investigations suggest the abandoned vehicle was handed over to a herbalist named Lawal Lucky, who resides on Idimepe Street in Owo and is currently at large. The police confirmed that sustained operational pressure and intelligence-driven efforts resulted in the victim's safe rescue. Miss John is receiving necessary support while the investigation continues to process evidence.
