Police rescue kidnap victim and arrest 11 suspected armed robbers in Nasarawa

Nasarawa police rescued a kidnapped woman and arrested 11 suspected armed robbers in two separate operations, according to the state command.

Favour Innocent, from Ajyga Village, was abducted from her residence on August 3 at about 9 p.m. Police, local hunters and community youths found her the next morning in the Nunku Forest Area of Akwanga Local Government Area. She received treatment at the Primary Health Centre in Andaha, was discharged in good condition and reunited with her family.

The adult suspects are Auwal Yunusa, 20; Saltsu Kabiru, 20; Umar Saleh, 22; Abubakar Hassan, 26; Musa Yahaya, 20; Seth Aaron, 20; Victor Hyelanpali, 19; Gift Ezra, 20; and Suleiman Abdullahi, 18.

In a separate incident, armed robbers invaded a guest house in Area One, Masaka, at about 2 a.m. on August 4 and stole mobile phones, cash and other valuables from lodgers. A police patrol forced the suspects to flee, then pursued them to a hideout where officers arrested nine adults and two minors.

Police identified the adults as Auwal Yunusa, Saltsu Kabiru, Umar Saleh, Abubakar Hassan, Musa Yahaya, Seth Aaron, Victor Hyelanpali, Gift Ezra and Suleiman Abdullahi. The minors were identified as James Ayuba, 16, and Fahad Abubakar, 15. Officers recovered a locally made revolver, cutlasses, knives, bedsheets, SIM cards, caps, scissors, counterfeit foreign currency and original documents. The adult suspects were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia, while police were directed to trace the minors’ parents or take them before the appropriate juvenile court.
