Police rescue kidnapped victim in Adamawa, recover weapons

The Adamawa State Police Command successfully rescued a 54-year-old kidnapped victim, Alhaji Sidiki Isah, unharmed, following an intelligence-led operation in the Song Local Government Area. The victim, a resident of Tambo Village in Girei Local Government Area, had been held captive at Luro Mountain by abductors who initially demanded a ransom of N90 million.

The operation was initiated under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Hassan, who deployed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force. Utilizing geospatial intelligence, the tactical team located the kidnappers' hideout in the mountainous region. Upon approaching the suspected location, the security team came under fire from the kidnappers.

The Commissioner of Police commended the gallantry and professionalism displayed by the operatives and collaborating security stakeholders during the operation.

In a swift and professional response, the security operatives repelled the attackers, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the encounter, two suspected kidnappers were neutralized, while others fled the scene with gunshot wounds. The kidnapped victim was safely recovered without any injuries and has since been reunited with his family.

During the operation, police recovered two AK-47 rifles, 17 rounds of live ammunition, a handset, and charms. The command stated that the area is currently being combed to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover any additional weapons.
