Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman, Kill Suspect in Enugu Forest

A woman abducted by suspected kidnappers in Enugu State, Nigeria, has been rescued by the police. The successful operation, which occurred in Nsukka Local Government Area, also resulted in the death of one of the abductors.

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have promptly rescued a kidnapped woman, neutralised one suspected kidnapper, and launched a manhunt for other fleeing gang members following an intelligence-guided operation at Okpuje in Nsukka Local Government Area.

The incident began on July 31 when armed men reportedly emerged from a forest and seized the woman along Anuka Road. Following a distress call, operatives from the Enugu State Police Command, along with Forest Guards and members of the Neighborhood Watch, swiftly tracked the suspects into a forest near the Enugu-Kogi State boundary.

During a gun battle with the security team, one suspect was neutralized, while others escaped with apparent gunshot injuries. The victim was rescued unharmed, and her two children and motorcycle, left behind by the kidnappers, were also recovered. The police have launched a manhunt for the fleeing gang members.
