Police respond to Ashdod gunfire, seize cocaine and illegal weapons in overnight raids

Ashdod police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred outside the Troya Garden event hall overnight Wednesday. A burst of seven shots reportedly shattered the hall's upper windows, but no injuries or fatalities were reported. Forensic scientists gathered evidence at the scene, and authorities confirmed the shooting was criminal in nature, not an act of terror. The suspects remain at large.

In a significant drug bust, police arrested a 45-year-old Holon resident early Thursday morning on suspicion of trafficking. A raid on a local warehouse yielded a substantial quantity of narcotics, including roughly 6.7 kilograms of cocaine, 2.5 kilograms of "Doctor" (a synthetic cathinone similar to bath salts), and 673 grams of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA/ecstasy). Over 8 kilograms of an unidentified liquid, suspected to be another drug, were also seized.

Meanwhile, as part of an ongoing initiative to combat violent crime in the Arab sector, Border Police conducted raids in Kafr Kanna and Rana on Wednesday. These operations resulted in the arrest of two suspects, a 24-year-old from Kafr Kanna and a 19-year-old from Rana. Authorities also confiscated several illegal weapons, including FN and Glock handguns.
