Police responding to dating-violence report find 40 syringes, arrest woman on meth charges

A report of dating violence led police in Suwon to a home containing about 40 disposable syringes suspected of having been used for drugs.

The woman in her 30s had called police at about 1 a.m. to report an argument with her boyfriend. Officers from the Suwon Yeongtong Police Station inspected the residence in Maetan-dong and found the syringes.

Police took the woman to the station voluntarily to investigate whether she had used drugs. During questioning, she reportedly said that she had used methamphetamine.

Preliminary reagent tests on her urine and residue left in the syringes both showed positive reactions for methamphetamine, according to the report. Police booked her on suspicion of violating South Korea’s Narcotics Control Act through drug use.

Investigators plan to send samples taken from the woman, along with the syringes recovered at the scene, to the National Forensic Service for detailed examination.
