Police solve three arson cases in Belgrade, four arrested

Belgrade police have apprehended four individuals suspected of intentionally starting three fires across the city's Voždovac, Čukarica, and Rakovica municipalities. The arrests were made in three separate operations, with authorities charging the suspects with causing general endangerment. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced the successful resolution of these cases in cooperation with the Second Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade.

One suspect, identified as P. Đ. (41), is accused of dousing a parked BMW with flammable liquid and setting it ablaze on December 15 of last year in the Voždovac neighborhood. In a separate incident, N. R. (25) and A. S. (24) were arrested for allegedly colluding to set fire to an apartment in Čukarica on May 1 of this year. They reportedly poured flammable liquid on the entrance door before igniting it.

The third operation led to the arrest of M. L. (45), who is suspected of setting fire to another BMW on May 9. This vehicle was targeted in a parking lot in Rakovica, and the suspect allegedly used flammable liquid to start the blaze. Following initial detention, P. Đ. was brought before the competent prosecutor with a criminal complaint. N. R., A. S., and M. L. were detained for up to 48 hours before also being presented to the Second Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for further proceedings.
