Police uncover bandits’ hideout, seize rifles, ammunition

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have successfully raided a suspected bandits' hideout, recovering two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition. The operation took place in Dajin Madam Forest, situated on the border between Plateau and Bauchi states.

The raid was a result of ongoing investigations into the arrest of four individuals allegedly involved in supplying arms, ammunition, and illicit substances to bandits. The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, stated that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the operation on August 2, acting on credible intelligence provided by one of the arrested suspects, Musbahu Ishaq.

Ishaq's information led the police to the forest, believed to be a key location for the criminal syndicate. The investigation revealed that Ishaq obtained arms and ammunition from Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin who remains at large and is believed to be hiding in Katsina State. A thorough search of the hideout uncovered the concealed rifles and ammunition.

Further investigation established that Musbahu Ishaq obtained arms and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to one Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin currently at large and believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.

The FCT Police Command is continuing its efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover any additional weapons linked to the group. The arrested suspects are slated to be charged in court. Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, affirmed the command's commitment to intelligence-led policing, stating, "The command remains committed to intelligence-led policing, and ongoing operations will continue until all members of the syndicate are apprehended and brought to justice."
