Poll seeks Chinese actor embodying 'first love' from youth dramas

A special online poll is underway to find the Chinese actor who best evokes the "first love" image from youth dramas. The voting service Plustar launched the "Everyone's First Love Award (Chinese Actor Ver.)" campaign, aiming to tap into the growing popularity of Chinese dramas on over-the-top (OTT) platforms.

These youth-focused Chinese dramas, often referred to as "major among the minors" due to their dedicated fan base, are gaining traction globally. The poll features six actors born between the late 1990s and 2000s, all of whom have starred in popular coming-of-age series that serve as entry points for new viewers.

Candidates include Yu Shuxin (虞书欣), Song Weilong (宋威龙), Shen Yue (沈月), Zhai Xiaowen (翟潇闻), Zhao Lusi (赵露思), and Zhou Yiran (周翊然). These actors have become prominent figures in the genre, resonating with audiences through their portrayals of youthful romance and coming-of-age stories.

Fans can cast their votes for free on Plustar's platform, which operates on fan support and participation. The actor who secures the top spot will be rewarded with a three-day advertisement displayed on a large screen in the bustling Myeongdong district of Seoul. Plustar utilizes a free voting currency called 'Silver Star,' which is distributed hourly, allowing anyone to participate without cost.
