Pope Francis Arrives in Barcelona for Two-Day Visit to Catalonia

Pope Francis landed in Barcelona on Tuesday for a two-day visit to Catalonia, marking a significant stop on his apostolic tour of Spain. The pontiff arrived on a specially arranged Iberia A320 aircraft, accompanied by the Vatican delegation and approximately 80 journalists.

At Barcelona Airport, Pope Francis was greeted by a delegation of high-ranking officials, including the president of the regional government, Salvador Illa; the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España; the government's delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto; the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni; and the president of the Catalan Parliament, Josep Rull.

The Pope's official activities in Barcelona will commence at the city's cathedral. There, he is scheduled to lead the prayer of the hours at the main altar. This liturgical act will be attended by the Archbishop of Barcelona, Cardinal Joan Josep Omella, along with members of the diocesan curia and volunteers.
